Research and projects
Scientific and research activity of the Department of Remote Sensing and Environmental Assessment concerns the broadly understood applications of remote sensing for the assessment of:
- water quality;
- health condition and thermal stress of natural plants;
- urban ecosystems and agricultural crops;
- range of floods and soil moisture;
- morphology of river beds and aeolian forms;
- plant species identification and Natura 2000 habitat classification;
- studies of urban ecosystems, including biodiversity of green areas, social and environmental role of wastelands, perception of urban greenery;
- research on modeling hydrological and meteorological processes using remote sensing;
- water management in the city and adaptation to climate change of urban space;
- the functioning and ecosystem services of green infrastructure in the city;
- environmental and social aspects of spatial planning and sustainable development at the municipal level;
- environmental quality assessment using biological methods (microbiological structure, phytoplankton, invertebrates).
