History
The Department of Remote Sensing and Environmental Assessment (in polish: Katedra Teledetekcji i Badań Środowiska – KTiBŚ) was established on 01/09/2019 to meet the needs of its members to focus on the use of the latest geoinformatics technologies.
Our department brings together a multidisciplinary team conducting research in the broadly understood environmental engineering and spatial management.
The team aims to create favorable conditions for teaching, research and development for its employees and students, using the latest technological achievements in the field of remote sensing and geoinformation.
The staff has conducted and conducts work by carrying out research and teaching projects, domestic and foreign, financed under the National Science Center, NCBiR and EU funds, cooperating with research units and commercial entities that relate to the issues of hydrology and water management, meteorology, hydromorphology, botanical research and environmental services natural ecosystems and in urbanized areas, NATURA 2000 habitat inventory and monitoring.
We are a unit that also obtains data from cameras and sensors placed on the UAV platform (drones), and in cooperation also from manned aviation platforms.
We want to encourage and teach students the basics of remote sensing and geoinformation techniques, and to present their enormous potential for use in environmental research.
