Dr inż. Ewa Syguła’s project, titled Carbon Relative Molar Mass as a novel indicator of chemical stability and environmental safety of biochar, has been awarded funding under the National Science Centre’s OPUS 30 call. This year, 279 of the 2,092 submitted proposals received funding. Dr inż. Ewa Syguła’s proposal received an outstanding evaluation, ranking fourth in the ST10 panel.

The project, with a total budget of PLN 404,216, will be carried out by the Warsaw University of Life Sciences in cooperation with the Łukasiewicz Research Network – PORT Polish Centre for Technology Development. The aim of the project is to develop the first Biochar Safety Map and a new CRRM (Carbon Relative Molar Mass) indicator, which will enable the assessment of the relationship between biochar’s chemical stability and its environmental safety.

The project aligns with emerging research directions concerning biochar quality and safety and may contribute to the development of new assessment standards for this material.
